My Professional Journey

With over twenty years of personal childcare experience, my expertise as a birth and postpartum doula extends far beyond certified training and years of in-the-field experience. Since 2005, I have supported a multitude of new parents within the DC area on their childcare journey. After immigrating to the U.S. from Kenya, I earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from Northern Virginia Community College, and after briefly working in DC public schools, I realized my true calling was to serve as a doula. I secured my first certification as a Birth and Postpartum Doula from DONA International, and subsequently received certifications as a Newborn Care Specialist as well as a Childbirth and Breastfeeding Educator from the Newborn Training Academy and Birth Arts International respectively.
